Directory and File Cleanup Tips

Directory and File Cleanup Tips

The following are tips for clearing unnecessary files from the main DBAMFG or EVOERP folder. Keeping the folder clean can help improve performance of Evo-ERP. Before deleting any files, you should make a backup of the system.

  1. Delete any .RTX in the root folder. These are no longer used. There are backups of RTM files in the RTM subfolder.
  2. Delete any files named TAS#.TMP where # is any number.
  3. If you have any PDFs other than ACCTUG.PDF and MFGUG.PDF you can delete or move them to another location.
  4. The only .TXT files that should be present are:
    • BKMENUSU.TXT
    • BKMENUST.TXT
    • BKMENUSTC.TXT
    • EVOPRGNAMES.TXT
    • SECLOG.TXT (if this file is getting large, you can delete it and it will be recreated)
Any other .TXT files can be moved or deleted.
  5. Any .CSV, .XLS, .XLSX, .DOC, and .DOCX can be moved or deleted.
  6. Only the following .B files should be present in the root folder:
    • FILE*.B (there are 10 of these)
    • ERRMSG.B
    • USERS.B
    • USERS2.B
    • USERSD.B
    • WBTRVMEMO.B
    • ISDRILLM.B

If any other .B files are present in the root folder instead of the DEFAULT subfolder, go to UT-D and do a lookup to see where the system is actually looking for the file. If it is looking in the root folder, copy the file to the DEFAULT subfolder, then in UT-D redirect the Data Dictionary pointer to the DEFAULT\ path, then make some change to the file in the system to verify the modified date changes on the one in the DEFAULT subfolder instead of the root folder. At this point you can remove the copy in the root folder. If UT-D is already pointing to the DEFAULT\ path, then the file can be deleted from the root folder.
