Moving to a New Server
Moving your Evo-ERP installation to a new server requires several steps to be completed to ensure it will function properly on a new server. Please read the instructions below before beginning the process.
Moving Evo-ERP License
Your license can only be active on one server at a time but the license agreement permits you to use it on a second “sandbox” environment for testing purposes. If you are moving your production server, you will need to uninstall your license on your existing server before installing it on your new server. See these instructions for more information about moving and installing your license, especially if you are unable to reach your old server.
If you are setting up a testing environment or would like to run your new server simultaneously with your old server for a short period to ensure everything is working, you have two options.
- You can install a trial license on your new server that will give you 30 days to do testing and confirm the new server is working.
- You can install your sandbox license if you are not currently using it in another test environment for more extensive testing as this license will have the same user count as your production license.
Once you have sufficiently tested the new environment, you can install your production license.
Moving Actian Zen/Pervasive PSQL
When you install Actian Zen/Pervasive PSQL on the new server, a 30 day trial license will be installed that you can use for testing during the transition process. However, once this period expires you will need to install your real license on the new server.
If you are upgrading your Pervasive/Zen version during the upgrade process, you can keep your old license on the old server and install the new license on the new server after installing the new version of Pervasive/Zen. This would allow more extensive testing on the new server. Keep in mind you will also need to install the new Pervasive/Zen client on each workstation if you are upgrading your Pervasive/Zen version. Do not update the client version of Pervasive/Zen until you are ready to go live on the new server. Using a client version newer than the server version can introduce errors.
Moving the EvoERP/DBA Classic Installation
To move the actual EvoERP/DBA Classic installation, first copy the EVOERP/DBAMFG folder with all subfolders to the new server. This contains all programs and business data. Share the folder on the new server with Read/Write permission. Always make sure to maintain a backup of this folder.
Once the folder is copied to the new server, the named databases will need to be set up in the Zen Control Center. This can be done by opening a command prompt in your EVOERP/DBAMFG root folder on the new server and running this command:
evoutil.exe ddf evoadmin
Workstation Setup for New Server
Make sure the new Pervasive/Zen client is installed on each workstation if you have upgraded your Pervasive/Zen version.
From each workstation, run EVOERP.EXE in the EVOERP/DBAMFG folder via UNC path or mapped drive to perform the workstation setup. When prompted, choose LAN setup. Make sure the Point existing ISTS folder to Evo folder option is selected. This will modify the local ISTS folder to make sure it is pointing to the new server location.
